Programs to be considered for this grant will enhance academic and employer relationships by addressing deficiencies in clinical faculty and/or clinical placement needs. Funding from this initiative will provide the resources to create trailblazing programs that will make a difference in the healthcare workforce pipeline.
Tennessee Hospital Association (THA) hosted 16 hospital and academic collaborative meetings across Tennessee in 2023 and 2024, and participants discussed examples of high-need training interventions between potential partners that improve clinical training and the student placement experience. The immediate goals of this funding opportunity are to address the obstacles in the clinical training environment by expanding the availability of clinical placements and/or increasing the number of clinical faculty.
Some of the program examples that health systems and colleges discussed implementing that this award intends to fulfill include:
- Expansion of clinical faculty training programs,
- Increasing shared staffing between employers and educators,
- Creating innovative models of student placement, and
- Implementing healthcare apprenticeship programs.
