Practice Site Incentive
New in 2026!
With the success of 2025 THA’s legislative efforts to support rural hospitals in counties with populations under 105,000, the TCWD Practice Site Incentive eligibility criteria has been updated to include recruitment and retention of Emergency Medicine Physicians at rural hospitals in counties with less than 105,000 in population.
The Practice Site Recruitment and Retention Incentive is a $50,000 grant available to practice sites in rural or underserved areas of Tennessee. This incentive can assist with your recruiting or retention needs. Acceptable positions to use funds for are primary care physicians, psychiatrists, psych nurse practitioners, and dentists. Awarded funds can be used for:
- Sign-on bonus
- Relocation expenses
- Insurance
- Locum tenens
- Tuition or loan repayment
Awarded participants are required to complete a “Funds Verification of Use” form and return to TCWD along with the provider’s hiring contract and other necessary supporting documentation within 180 days for approval before funding is provided. If all of the funds awarded are not utilized, the participant must return the remaining funds to TCWD.
