Program Details

To qualify for the preceptor incentive, preceptors must complete all required elements by the deadlines indicated for the incentive cycle. Preceptorship is defined as a licensed nurse’s oversight of student nurses during clinical hours that contributes to the student’s academic program of study.

Training & Hours

  • Preceptors are required to complete two (2) professional development courses and must document precepted clinical hours within one of the program’s approved hour ranges.
  • Training courses are completed once; if you completed the required training during a previous incentive cycle, you do not need to repeat it.
  • Preceptors will receive one payment per incentive cycle for the highest number of approved precepted hours submitted and approved.

Payment Structure

  • Incentive payments vary based on the number of hours precepted. Payments are issued in the order applications are received and will continue until funding is exhausted.
  • Payments are made directly to the preceptor. After application approval, notification will include items needed to process payment (W-9, confirmation of mailing address, etc.). Payments will be mailed to the address provided within 30 days of the submission deadline.

Placement & Student Matching

  • THA does not place students with preceptors as part of this program. Preceptors should work with facility leadership or clinical placement coordinators to secure student placements.
  • If you need assistance finding a student placement, contact: preceptorincentiveprogram@tha.com and program staff can help connect you with local academic partners.
